I was born in Joplin, Missouri, and grew up on a farm. Like most boys, I spent a lot of time playing sports, but I was also drawn to art. My teachers noticed that early on, and in third grade I was encouraged to write and illustrate my first book. Around the same time, I began working alongside my dad, who was a carpenter. I spent countless hours behind the barns building treehouses and tinkering with my own inventions—something I still enjoy doing with my kids today.
That creative drive carried into middle school, where I won awards in industrial arts for my woodworking projects. I also knew I enjoyed writing, though I hadn’t yet found my direction with it. In high school, I picked up the guitar, and music quickly became a major influence in my life. I was fascinated by how songs were constructed—how melodies and lyrics worked together to create emotion. I began writing my own music, filling notebooks with lyrics and ideas—some rough, some worth keeping.
In college, I studied mathematics and business. I found it interesting how closely music and mathematics are connected, both built on patterns and structure. Throughout that time, I continued working hard, a value my parents instilled in me early. During my senior year, I built my first house from the ground up while working full-time and attending school.
After earning my degree in mathematics, my brother and I worked our way up in the family business, starting at the bottom and eventually becoming owners after my dad retired. Today, we run a couple of successful, fast-paced businesses. Alongside that, I married my wife, Cortney, and we’ve been blessed with three boys. Life became busy, and naturally, my time for creativity became more limited—but I’ve always made an effort to keep it alive.
Over the years, I’ve continued to push myself to learn and grow. I’ve learned a new language, became a pilot, and have had the opportunity to fly all over the country with my family. In recent years, I’ve made a more intentional effort to bring my creative ideas to life—painting landscapes in the evenings, writing music, and now, writing novels.
This feels like a new phase of life for me, and one I’ve truly come to enjoy.

Twisty Small-Town Mystery That Keeps You Guessing
What stands out in The Alpha Trace is the way it combines a cold case investigation with the fear that a serial killer may have returned. The small-town setting adds plenty of tension, as long-buried secrets begin to surface and no one seems completely trustworthy.
It’s a fast-paced thriller with enough twists and suspense to keep the pages turning. A strong start to a mystery series for readers who enjoy dark secrets, cold cases, and high-stakes investigations.
